Photo Background Color Changer
Change a plain white or light photo background to blue, red, white, or any custom color.
Best for ID photos or product photos with a clean light background.
What is the Photo Background Color Changer?
Many ID photo requirements are strict about background color - a white background for one form, light blue for another, red for a specific exam category. Retaking a photo every time the requirement changes is inconvenient. This tool detects the plain, light background behind your subject and replaces it with any color you choose, without needing photo-editing software.
It works by identifying pixels that are lighter than a threshold you control and swapping them for your selected color, while leaving the subject (which is usually darker and more varied in tone) untouched. Everything happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API.
Common Use Cases
| Requirement | Background color needed |
|---|---|
| Most Indian government exam photos (SSC, UPSC, Railway) | White |
| Passport and visa photos | White or off-white |
| Certain police and defence recruitment forms | Light blue or as specified |
| Some state-specific application portals | Red or blue per notification |
| Professional ID or badge photos | Custom brand color |
Step-by-Step Guide
1Upload a photo with a plain background
Choose a photo taken against an evenly lit, light-colored background - white or light grey works best for detection.
2Pick your target color
Use the color picker to select white, blue, red, or any custom color your form requires.
3Adjust the threshold if needed
Raise the light background threshold to capture more of the background, or lower it if parts of the subject are being changed unintentionally.
4Change and download
Click "Change Background," preview the result on the canvas, and download the finished JPG.
